1. What StudyShift is

StudyShift is a study-planning and learning-support service designed to help adult learners organise courses, assessments, study time, course materials, results and experience evidence.

2. Information processed

Depending on how you use StudyShift, the service may process account details such as your name and email address; profile information such as timezone and study goals; programme, module, assessment and grade information; study availability and task completion; uploaded course materials and extracted text; Recognition of Prior Learning evidence; career-goal information; AI conversation content; device push-notification subscription data; and technical security/usage records.

3. Why the information is used

Information is used to provide your private StudyShift workspace, organise deadlines and study plans, answer course-aware questions, process course materials you choose to upload, support RPL/evidence features, provide optional reminders, maintain security, prevent abuse and improve the reliability of the service.

4. AI processing

When you use AI-powered features, relevant text from your request and, where necessary, relevant StudyShift course context may be sent to the configured AI service to generate a response. Do not upload information you are not entitled to use or share. AI responses should be checked against original course materials for important academic decisions.

5. Storage and account separation

StudyShift uses authenticated user accounts and database row-level security so normal application access is scoped to the signed-in user. Course-file storage is private and user-scoped. Sensitive server credentials are not intended to be exposed in the browser.

6. Push notifications

Push notifications are optional. If enabled, StudyShift stores the browser/device push-subscription information required to deliver reminders. You can disable reminders in StudyShift and can also revoke notification permission through your browser or device settings.

7. Cookies and authentication

StudyShift uses authentication/session cookies that are necessary to keep you signed in securely and to protect access to your workspace. Additional analytics or advertising cookies should not be introduced without updating this policy and, where required, providing appropriate consent controls.

8. Retention

Information may be retained while your account is active and for as long as reasonably necessary for the service, security and legal obligations. Data that is no longer required should be deleted or anonymised where appropriate.

9. Your choices and rights

Subject to applicable law, users may have rights concerning access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability and withdrawal of consent where consent is the relevant basis. The product should provide practical account/data-management controls as those operational processes are implemented.

10. Security

No internet service can guarantee absolute security. StudyShift is designed with authenticated access, server-side secrets, private file storage and row-level database controls, but users should use a strong unique password and protect access to their own devices and email account.

11. Changes

This policy may be updated as StudyShift develops, particularly if new analytics, payments, institutional features or third-party processors are introduced. The “Last updated” date should be changed whenever the policy materially changes.
